FR + CO architects, established in early 2017 with Kyle Franco as director and principal. A need to explore new horizons and push personal boundaries saw Kyle start the company with the aim of providing clients with the personal attention that is required but so often missing in the industry.
Kyle finished his studies in 2005 with a MArch (Prof) from the University of Pretoria and started working at a small practice in Rosebank where the primary focus was niche/upmarket residential work.
After 3 years he moved to Pretoria and joined a more commercially oriented firm where he spent 6 years working on a large variety of commercial and residential projects and gaining invaluable experience.
His desire to be more in control of projects forced a move to a smaller, more personal practice. For a long time he wanted to start his own practice, and 2 years later this became a reality.He is a professionally registered architect with SACAP (South African Council for the Architectural Profession) and is SANS10400XA accredited which gives FR+CO the ability to do the energy efficiency calculations.
The work is personal, despite the scale, and with attention to detail, both inside the spaces created and the exterior environment are complete in their wholes. The current portfolio under FR+CO is small, but includes upmarket residential houses in Pretoria, a shop fit out for an advertising and marketing firm in Fourways, a new school for a Non-Profit organisation and other smaller projects.
Kyle’s personal portfolio is extensive and includes commercial buildings, housing developments and individually designed houses with a lot of time spent on site working closely with the contractor and consultants to bring to reality the dreams of his clients.
