Description

A place of peace and tranquillity

Covering an impressive 2500 hectares with diverse ecosystems of bushveld, grassland, coastal forest, wetland, and wild game, this natural landscape offers a place of peace and tranquillity.

Brothers Eric and Trevor Dunstone purchased the land for conservation and founded the reserve in 2003. A large lake shaped like the eland, common in bushman paintings give the reserve its name “Lake Eland” in honour of this magnificent antelope and its symbolic meaning to the San.

Activities to choose from include a self game drive, viewing the abundant wildlife and flora which can be seen from the comfort of your car.

Guests can walk across our 80m suspension bridge and get their hearts racing on our fabulous Zipline Tour. Other activities include horse riding, hiking, single track mountain bike trails, paintball, fishing, picnic sites and 4x4 tracks.

FUNCTIONS

Wedding Ceremony Venue: The Chapel on the Hill

Once an old, rustic stone dairy mill used by farmers, these ruins have been restored into a beautiful wooden and stone chapel. The chapel is situated on a hill, there for name “Chapel on the Hill”. It is usually surrounded by a vast variety of antelope, zebra, and wildebeest grazing on the grassy plains. The chapel looks onto the Game Reserve, providing spectacular views for guests to admire before and after the service and a stunning backdrop for your wedding photos.

The chapel seats 220 guests comfortably on wooden pews, with a raised platform in the front of the chapel where the bride and groom stand for the service.

The Wedding Reception Venue: Oribi Hall

The Oribi Hall is situated adjacent to the Lake Eland Game Reserve reception, overlooking a small dam, and has a spectacular view of the Game Reserve. Wooden ceilings, windows, and doorways provide a natural, rustic look, while large dimming chandeliers create a warm evening ambiance. This venue is perfect for a day or night reception. This venue must be seen to be appreciated!

KUDU Conference Centre

The Kudu Conference centre provides the ideal venue for conferences of up to 50 people. For larger conferences we use the Oribi Hall.
